My Secret

I can't do this,

Not anymore,

Keeping it all locked away,

Away from everyone.

I'm hiding it,

Fearing what the truth may do,

How the world will react,

Not knowing how it will be seen.

Everyone has their secrets.

This one is mine,

One that I will take with me when my time is up,

No one will ever know.

The secret I hide,

One that keeps me up at night,

Is who I really am,

This shell of what I used to be.

When my air runs out,

And I am no longer here,

This is when the world may learn,

They might learn my truth.
