Catch the Light
The sun shines bright in the deep blue sky,
Warming my cold pale skin,
Enjoying every minute.
Running around,
Hearing the laughter,
Seeing the smiles.
The reality of the sun going down sets in,
Knowing the light will soon be gone,
A knot begins to tie in my stomach,
Fear is growing inside of me.
Rushing away,
Trying to catch the light,
Wanting to make it stay for just a bit longer.
No matter how hard I try,
The sun will always go down,
Looking around I notice there is no more light.
Running away,
Searching to find something to save me,
To hide me from the darkness.
Finding a door,
Feeling someone watching me as I struggle to pry open the heavy wood,
The door is stuck,
I am doomed.
I'm done,
My time has come,
It's my turn.
But what can I say,
What can I do,
I am just a women.
